Greatness of God

In my time with God this week, I was reminded of how Great God is and that realization has brought me to a point of humility. As I look back at my earlier years of being a Christian and the lives of most believers, our view of God is like a railway porter; someone who carries our suitcase and serves others. Because of this wrong view of God, we can’t get past the point of making Him a life-boat for our rescue or a ladder to get us out of our burning building. God is God. He made heaven and earth. He holds the world in his hand. He measures the dust of the earth in the balance. He spreads the sky out like a mantle. He died for our sins. He is the Almighty God. He is not your servant. You are His. He is your Father and Savoir. The thing that changed my mindset and will change yours is a right view of who God really is. Isaiah had his view changed forever by a true encounter with God. He said “Woe is me! For I am undone; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of host!” (Isaiah 6:5) Isaiah now had a right view of God and His holiness which brought him to his knees because he knew he was nothing in the presence of God. If we are ever going to be all that God has created us to be we have to start with a right view of God and that begins in realizing who He is and who we are not. We must assume the rightful position of servant and give Him our life to use as a tool to reach the lost world. The wisest man ever to live once said “fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom.” (Proverbs 9:10) My challenge to you today is to go home and read Isaiah 40: 9-31. This passage is entitled “The Greatness of God.” The second thing is to keep in mind that if we truly see God the way we should, it will bring us to our knees as Isaiah said in chapter six. After that we can start to serve the Lord in the right mind and heart.
